Strategy Wins

A look at how I think beyond production: Campaign strategy, interactive marketing, and smarter content systems.

Lunch Break Campaign TL;DR — I pitched the hero messaging for PayCompass' biggest campaign ever.
Lunch Break fragrance bottle photographed in a desert setting

After seeing one too many, Lunch Break began as a social parody of pretentious fragrance commercials. The joke centered on a cologne representing the freedom of the corporate lunch break. After the shoot, I went into a one-on-one with my assistant director and pitched a complete strategic repositioning: flip the joke on its head and turn the social skit into a 1099 recruitment campaign, with the cologne representing the freedom of independent work, including the ability to take lunch whenever you want, for however long you want.

I'm Hungry Commercial

The idea landed well enough that we partnered with Lotions & Potions in Tempe to turn Lunch Break into a real scent. After rounds of discussion and revision, we bottled more than 75 1.7 fl oz bottles and 500 0.7 oz samples. We enlisted our Marketing Manager, Drew, to play Tyler Riviera, Lunch Break’s model and spokesperson, and built an entire social-media takeover around the campaign, expanding the original joke into a much larger brand moment.

What Are You Having For Lunch

From there, we decided to bring Lunch Break to MWAA, our biggest trade show of the year, and build the campaign directly into the event experience. At MWAA, Lunch Break was included in the opening remarks and won Best Swag at the conference. We ran out of samples midway through the second day. It was a hit. Throughout our travels, I created a recap video following Tyler Riviera on the trade show floor while we supported the campaign with additional social reels throughout the event.

During and after the event, Lunch Break was used as a recruitment tool, a disruption in the sea of boring, blue payments companies. Full-size bottles were given as gifts to hot recruitment leads, and samples were planned to be included in our summer swag box for agents. Lunch Break quickly became a key element of the PayCompass brand, and it had legs.

To me, Lunch Break is a perfect example of how I approach marketing and content creation. I believe the strongest marketing ideas are built around a clear purpose, with the flexibility to take on new forms and serve multiple objectives. With PayCompass being the #AgentFirst ISO, Lunch Break wasn't just a clever campaign or a piece of content; it was an idea that could live beyond its original execution and continue creating value for the brand.

Termin.le TL;DR — I turned product training into a daily game concept and built the prototype to prove it.

Termin.le came from noticing how often people around the office shared daily web games with each other: Wordle, Connections, Spotle, and others. I saw an opportunity to make something that usually feels like homework, learning a catalog of payments hardware, feel more like a daily challenge people might actually want to come back to.

I designed the concept around the product details payments agents and employees already needed to know, using things like manufacturer, release year, form factor, connectivity, NFC, printer, touchscreen, price range, and terminal category as clues. I built a working prototype so the idea could be experienced instead of just pitched, then presented it to marketing and development, where it was approved before the merger and layoffs paused the project.

AgentFirst Podcast Improvements TL;DR — I helped mold our podcast into a more polished, branded, and social ready content-system.
Season 5 Trailer
AgentFirst podcast visual evolution comparison Podcast looks from Season 3 to Season 5

For PayCompass’s proprietary AgentFirst podcast, I helped improve both the visual presentation and the way each episode was repurposed across channels. Across seasons, the show became more polished, intentional, and recognizably branded.

Each individual season was shot entirely in one session. This gave us months of content from a couple of hours of production while also giving us natural checkpoints to refresh the look and content system.

By Season 5, I handled all video content for the podcast, defining the look and creating trailers, short-form reels, branded intros and outros, and supporting promotional content that gave each recording a stronger life beyond the full episode.

GIPHY Brand Library TL;DR — I turned our social videos into a gif library that generated an additional 225,000 views.

I created PayCompass’s GIPHY presence from scratch, turning moments from our catalog of offbeat social videos into branded GIFs that could be discovered and used across Instagram and other platforms.

The initiative extended the life of existing content, preserved our distinctive brand voice in a new format, and created an additional organic distribution channel. The GIF library generated 225,500 views, putting more eyes on the brand without requiring a new full-scale campaign or production cycle.

Social Media

I helped shape a strong social presence through a steady stream of short-form concepts, production, and editing built around a distinct, offbeat brand voice. From September 2025 to October 2026, I helped grow the company’s Instagram from 450 to 1,005 followers (+555 / +123%) and TikTok from 350 to 960 followers (+610 / +174%). Several videos broke well beyond our existing audience, including a 1M-view reel and multiple six-figure performers.

Testimonials

Across these projects I utilized my expertise in field production and storytelling to find our clients’ emotional throughlines, preserving their voices and shaping real testimonial experiences into focused brand stories.

Agent Stories

Mary Hogue

Filmed in Abilene, Texas, this testimonial came together on the fly after our original shoot plan changed. Working as the solo shooter without any lighting equipment, I turned Mary’s small office into an interview setup and captured enough supporting B-roll to build a polished 90-second story. The piece focuses on how PayCompass gives her the tools, support, and relationships to run her business more efficiently, work closely with her downline, and save time for more deal-making.

Ira Cornelius

For Ira Cornelius’s testimonial in Peoria, Arizona, I led the visual approach while my assistant director supported on B-cam, then handled the edit myself. We interviewed Founding Agent Ira Cornelius and his wife, Kenzie, about how building his business with PayCompass has given him the flexibility to stay ambitious professionally while still being a present father. I paired the interview with sentimental home footage and energetic merchant footage to give the piece a modern, entrepreneurial feel aimed at younger agents while staying grounded in family values.

We filmed an additional testimonial with one of Ira’s merchants, AEO Powersports. Here, the story shifts to Ira’s relationship with AEO’s owner, Jeremy. Ira was Jeremy’s client long before Jeremy became Ira’s client, but the power of payment processing strengthened their relationship much further.

Kristy Thompson

Shot in Tucson with my assistant director, Kristy Thompson’s testimonial was shaped around a different kind of value: making the agent experience less stressful. As a bilingual agent who moved to PayCompass looking for a smoother way to work, Kristy spoke about the ease of the transition, the confidence she has in the products she sells, and the breathing room that better support gives her outside of work. I carried that calm, straightforward tone through the edit to make the story feel approachable and reassuring to other agents considering a change.

Merchant Stories

These merchant testimonials were some of my first projects after joining the PayCompass team. I edited each one from existing footage into a finished story. Each piece pairs an agent with a small business owner to show the impact that the right payment-processing setup can have on a business; what it means for the owner, their customers, and their employees.

Motion Graphics

I used motion graphics to extend the PayCompass brand across recurring content, product marketing, and visual identity work — from custom webinar intros to animated product graphics and a logo animation with sound.

Webinar Intros

I created and added intros to our webinar recordings, giving them stronger visual identities and a more cohesive brand feel. Square Bootcamp was our exclusive Square product training webinar, requiring me to match the feel of Square's minimalist, modern aesthetic while keeping the kitschy energy PayCompass was known for. Toolbox Tuesday was our weekly training webinar for agents, featuring a key partner each week. The host of this webinar, Scott Roberge, is a sparky metalhead with a serious love for payments, so I had to make something that could match his energy.

Genie mobile app motion graphic

Genie was PayCompass’ mobile app for sales agents, bringing together tools for prospecting businesses, managing relationships, accessing information, pricing, and other day-to-day sales needs.

I created motion graphics for the app’s go-to-market web page, each designed to follow Genie’s branding while highlighting a key feature described in the surrounding copy. The animations were built primarily in After Effects, with some Blender work incorporated as well.

I took the initiative to give the PayCompass logo more life through animation, then pushed the idea further by adding sound. The result expanded the brand beyond a static visual mark into something that could have its own motion and audio identity.
